About the Swiss test
Is there one standard citizenship test for all of Switzerland?
No. Procedures, question sets, and pass thresholds differ by canton and sometimes even by commune. That is why the app focuses on canton-aware preparation instead of one fixed nationwide catalog.
What topics do the questions cover?
Typical topics include politics, history, geography, society, and everyday life in Switzerland. Depending on the canton, local institutions, schools, or municipal structures may also matter.
How different are the test formats?
Known official formats already vary a lot: Zurich uses 50 questions in 60 minutes, Bern 48 questions in 90 minutes, and Aargau 45 questions with a 76% pass threshold. Other cantons rely on interviews or local procedures with their own rules.
Are all cantons using written exams?
No. In this project, Lucerne is modeled with an official interview-based format. The app therefore does not assume that every canton uses the same written exam.
Are the questions official?
The app combines questions from official and semi-official Swiss sources. Where official test formats are known, practice tests are aligned to them. The app is still an independent study tool, not a government product.

Do I need an account?
No. The app works without registration, and your progress and settings stay locally on your device.
Can I study offline?
Yes. Questions, practice tests, and progress work offline. Only optional translations use an online service.
How do translations help?
If a question is hard to understand, you can translate it into your preferred language as a study aid while keeping the original German text available.
